"With a 50–60 lb weight difference between us, it was impressive to see how smoothly the device balanced things out. The Climbing Equalizer is designed to help reduce the impact of weight disparities between climbing partners, and it definitely delivered. Kevin is a lot heavier than I am, and when he takes a good fall, I usually get launched quite a ways up the wall. With the Climbing Equalizer, we were able to easily fine-tune the ballast to keep me more grounded while still providing a soft, dynamic catch. Another thing I really like is how lightweight and compact it is. It’s easy to toss in a pack and carry to the crag without adding noticeable bulk or weight. Always fun to learn and practice with new tools that can make climbing safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable—especially when your regular climbing partner outweighs you by a significant margin!"

"Materials: super durable, no wear and tear yet. Equalization capacity: I'm 115 pounds and the people I belay are either women near my size or guys from 165 to 205. I found that I could add what I guessed were maybe 30 pounds of rocks, which would help but not entirely fix the situation for my heaviest partners. It worked great, just like expected. It also made lowering my heavy partners less of a battle with me trying to stay on the ground. Getting the length of the sling right so that I could move a little bit but not too much and keeping it in a good position relative to my feet. I did find I could relocate if necessary, when my partner was resting by keeping the brake hand in one hand and picking up the bucket by the sling.

Packability: At first, I couldn't figure out how to put the bucket in my backpack, but I found a solution I'm quite happy with. I now keep my quickdraws in the bucket and drop the whole thing in my pack rather than trying to fold it up. This solves the problem of having to rack all the draws on another sling or leaving them clipped together in a mess or loose in the pack. With my light partners, it's been useful to just deposit the draws in the bucket between climbs since it's not being used otherwise. Another nice thing is that unlike the Ohm family of devices, it can work for single pitch trad climbing as well.

Thanks!"
